Danger Mouse - Good Grief! The Hiphop Mix Tape, Volume 3 (2000) CDR

Danger Mouse - Good Grief! The Hiphop mixtape, Volume 3 (2000) CDR

Before Brian Burton shot off into the stratosphere of stardom (alliteration, ho!), he put out a very consistent and tight series of mixtapes and CDs. I bought this at Wuxtry Records in Decatur around the spring or summer of 2000. I didn't know who this man was, but I was sold on the track listing from the moment I saw it.

Solely by coincidence, about a month later, I went to Athens to meet some friends for drinks and a late dinner. The friend-of-a-friend across the table introduced himself. Hey, aren't you the same guy that put DWYCK over Who Got Da Props? I had to go to my car and get the disc. It was indeed Danger Mouse, and I gushed about how good of an ear he had for blends. Of course, they call these 'mashups' nowadays. A couple of years go by, and the Grey Album explodes onto the scene. From there, you know the rest of the story.

The disc I have in the case now is actually the fourth instance I've burned. The previous three would all get scratched because I'd have to have a copy everywhere. This rip is fresh from my new, azure blue Taiyo Yuden copy.

Survival got me buggin'

...but I'm alive on arrival.

Sorry that I've been gone for so long. I kept promising to refresh this blog and post goodies that I hope you will enjoy. There should be routine updates from now on.

Also, please be patient as I update the dead links from older posts. My hosting provider has changed, and I never updated the links. This should be done by the end of the month.

High fives, kisses and hugs to the music-loving people of Earth!

Alec Empire - The Destroyer 7" (1997 - DHR/Grand Royal)

While in college in the mid-90s, I had an ample appetite for glitched/damaged electronic music as well as the intensity and sweat of the hardcore punk of old. I was working at WUSC talking with our rep for Grand Royal. "Have you heard of Digital Hardcore?", she said. After that, a fleet of 7-inch vinyls showed up in the mail. The minute I put this on, there it was: this sound that I had in my head and couldn't formulate it into words.

This is my first vinyl rip. I hope you enjoy it.
